National Biodiesel Board Opens “Green” Building
Sept. 10 , 2008 - The NBB hosted a ribbon-cutting, tree planting and open house on Sept. 10 to celebrate the opening of its new headquarters in Jefferson City, Mo. Members of the Governing Board were on hand to help break in the new building. Governor Matt Blunt and U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof spoke and lead the ribbon cutting. Mayor John Landwehr and members of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce were also present.
The NBB was founded in Jefferson City in 1993. The NBB purchased a building in 2007 on the city’s regenerating East Side, and has completely renovated it from the ground up. The result is a state of the art office with exciting technological capabilities, such as worldwide video conferencing. The building has many eco-friendly features, including:
- Carpet made from recycled materials
- Nontoxic paint
- Solar-powered outdoor lights
- Automatic indoor lights
- Energy Star appliances
- High efficiency toilets
