Agreement Reauthorizes CCC Bioenergy Program and Biodiesel Education Program
On Friday, May 9, 2008, a bipartisan group of Congressional negotiators concluded their deliberations on the Farm Bill and announced that a final agreement had been reached. Read a summary of the major provisions included in the bill.
President Bush has publicly stated intention to veto the Farm Bill (view the White House Fact Sheet on the Farm Bill). Both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate are expected to consider the Farm Bill conference report this week. It remains to be seen whether the package will garner the 2/3 majority vote that would ultimately be required to override a Presidential veto.
