Grand Teton National Park

The snow capped peaks of Wyoming’s spectacular Grand Teton National Park are recognized far and wide.  What is lesser known is that the park has relied on cleaner-burning biodiesel blends to power its diesel vehicles and equipment since 2000.

Everything from fire trucks and ambulances, to pick-ups and generators runs on biodiesel blends.

The Maintenance Supervisor for Grand Teton National Park, Vic Lendeburg, says the key to trouble-free operation of the park's diesel vehicles and equipment is "good clean fuel." He checks the quality of his fuel before it's delivered to the tanks.

Lendeburg says that using biodiesel is simply "the right thing to do." We live in a pristine area and using biodiesel blends helps keep our air cleaner.  It also has the added benefit of increasing lubricity."

Lendeburg gives presentations each year about what the Park is doing to protect the environment and its use of biodiesel is always highlighted. He is also happy to serve as a resource for others who are thinking about making the switch to biodiesel and has done so in the past.

Check out the Cold Weather Guide for information about biodiesel use in cold weather.
