The United States Postal
Service has used biodiesel at several metropolitan locations, including
Miami, San Francisco and Manhattan.
"I am absolutely a fan of biodiesel,"
said Marguerite Downey, Clean Air Programs Manager for the US Postal
Service. "Of all the alternative fuels the postal service has
tried, one of the most positive experiences has been with biodiesel.
It is a seamless transition to use biodiesel—no training is
needed, no extra equipment, no new infrastructure."
Downey hopes to add other USPS sites
to the growing list of biodiesel users in the future. “We
are proud to operate our fleet with fewer emissions and with less
petroleum. Biodiesel is an easy way to achieve cleaner air and reduce
dependence on foreign oil.”
